Metropolitan Community Church -
The Church For The Trans Community
TransForum Manchester was set up, and funded by, the Metropolitan Community Church of Manchester (MCCM) in February 2003 as a 6 months "Trans Training course" and then continued as the "MCC Trans Discussion Group" from December 2003. It's name changed to TransForum Manchester in June 2008 as we started to seek our own funding and distance the group from the church. A number of our regular attendees are also members of MCCM and will be pleased to answer questions about or provide information on the church. The group, however, is of course non-religious and open to all
Members of the group who are also members of MCCM regularly:
- Lead worship in church
- Celebrate Holy Communion
- Write and deliver the prayers
- Give the readings in church
- And serve on the church’s governing committee.
We enjoy and value our links with a church for all our community, which welcome everyone with open arms and seek to provide an affirming and non-judgemental atmosphere. Our trans members play a full and active part in our ministry and outreach People may dress as they please and we provide care and support for people at all stages in their journey. Our trans members are particularly skilled at helping and encouraging other trans people as they explore their identities. Our whole church welcomes everyone who comes without bias or prejudice. Many of our members are lesbian, bisexual, gay, or Transgendered and know from their own experience about the pain of coming to terms with who they really are. !
